I want to become a farmer. This comment is usually met with skepticism or pessimism and I get that! I’m a twentysomething and I didn’t grow up in the country. What do I know? Not a whole lot. Yet. Which is why I’m not rushing into farming. I’m in love with the idea of being self-sufficient and living on an acreage. I want to live a simple life filled with what matters to me. First, though, I need to build my life skills. Those include cooking, baking, fermenting, gardening, harvesting, sewing, mending, knitting, preserving, repairing, building, hunting, fishing, bartering, servicing… to name the few ings coming to mind.

What life skills do you have? Or which ones are you looking into learning?
